2 steps forward, 1 step back (and that’s okay)

Hey DRMERS! Today, I wanted to give a little unsolicited pep talk to you guys.

Being 20 somethings, it’s really hard to feel truly secure in ourselves. Some days, we feel good, and most days, we have no idea what we’re even doing. Even though the process of “finding yourself” is needed, most of us are guilty for being too hard on ourselves.

As you look back on your life, you may remember all the struggles and setbacks, but you may also recall the victories and breakthroughs. Through it all, you've learned that progress is not always a straight path.

Sometimes, it's two steps forward and one step back….

but as long as you keep pushing forward, you'll get there.

It's easy to focus on the setbacks you've faced.

But that’s why I wanted to talk about this. To remind you that it’s just as important to recognize that setbacks are an essential part of the process. They teach us resilience, they help us build character, and they make us appreciate our victories all the more.

When you encounter obstacles along the way, it can be frustrating. You may feel like you're not making any progress, or that you're moving further away from your goals…

But it's how you respond to those setbacks that sets you apart.

One way to respond is by embracing a growth mindset. Instead of seeing setbacks as failures, you can see them as opportunities to learn and grow. You can ask yourself what you can do differently next time, or what you can learn from the experience. This way, setbacks become stepping stones towards your goals, rather than roadblocks.

It's also important to celebrate your victories, no matter how small they may seem. Whether it's landing a new job, mastering a new skill, or simply getting out of bed on a tough day?

Every victory is worth celebrating.

These moments of success remind you that you're capable of achieving great things.

Always rooting for you <3
